Powdery mildew causes grayish-white spotting underneath the foliage, much like sprinkled flour. This fungus causes leaves to deform and die and grows well in high levels of humidity.

Treat powdery mildew with all-purpose spray that includes 1 tsp baking soda mixed with a few drops of liquid soap and 1 qt of water.
